The Salem Sump Nasogastric Tube is a dual-lumen tube designed for gastric decompression, aspiration, and short-term enteral feeding. It consists of one main lumen for drainage and suction, and a second smaller lumen (air vent or “sump”) that prevents the tube from adhering to the stomach lining during suction. This helps reduce the risk of mucosal damage and ensures continuous drainage.

It is commonly used in hospitals for patients requiring gastric decompression after surgery, intestinal obstruction, poisoning, or to prevent aspiration.
