This is a rigid ankle-foot orthosis (AFO) designed to help people who have “foot drop” (i.e., the inability to lift the front part of the foot due to nerve/muscle weakness). The splint:
Uses a polypropylene dorsal shell with a leaf‐spring action that helps arrest excessive plantar-flexion (foot pointing down) and lifts the foot during walking.
Has an anatomical shape that distributes weight and maintains the foot in
functional inflexion (lifted) position.
Designed to be thin-walled and lightweight, so it can be used with most shoes.
